Before I started this picture I'd been pilfering through my books with medieval art pondering what I wanted to do with Chapter 2's cover art. I knew I wanted to feature Bactine, since I felt like this was sort of her chapter wherein she deals with these foolish men she's been stuck with, and I knew I wanted to keep the medieval theme going. I came across a lovely painting on a shield and had her outfit. Unfortunately, when I drew it on her, she looked insanely flat, as those outfits were wont to do to women in those days, so I mended the situation as best I could. I decided I wanted one of those medieval scenes where you see everything everywhere at once and the depth perception is all screwed up, and so I did.
This was also one of my first trials with Photoshop, and I really didn't know how to work well with layers yet. That's why all the colors look faded... but you didn't know that, did you?
